PRAISE THE LORD, MY MOM’S Ok.

I woke up to a FB msg from my high school friend, that said… “Hey, I saw there was an accident at the flowershop today… family, ok?”

I called the flowershop, and my mom answers in her usual chipper voice, “Hello, Mountain View Grant Florist, how may I help you?”

“Hey mom”

“whaa why your voice sound so bad?”

“im sick…. anyway… how are you doing??”

“ahh i am with a customer, i call you later..? ahh and i have some exciting news to tell you, ah!”

“mom, i heard there was an accident, are you okay??”

“ahh you already heard the news, there is a CAR inside the flowershop. a lady ran her car into the flowershop. i okay, just little blood. I call you later yah?”

“WHAT ON EARTH? a car INSIDE THE FLOWERSHOP?!”

“yes. i call you later. i with a customer right now. i love you.”

“love you too mom.PTL youre okay. “

anyway… find out later that yes. my mom is fine.. there was some glass that flew and hit her and made her bleed a little. what could have turned into a freak accident, was definitely a MIRACLE BY GOD.

here’s the emails I received from Momma Chan in regards to the accident.

“I am so thankful that God is watching over us all times. This Cantonese lady about 30 years old ran into our shop with her mini cooper at around 11:00 am on 12/6. She felt that the car had some problem and press on the brake but stepped on the gas instead. She came right through to the front glass door and went right through to the fridge door and parked right there. It was amazing that I was not hurt. I was right behind the back fridge door and got ready to open the door. Good thing I didn’t or else glasses would be all over me. Duet 33: 24-29. Praise God. He hides me under His Wing. HE defeated all our enemies and HELP us at every situation. He protected both me and the driver. We were not hurt but frighten. I share the gospel with Anna Lam. There were so many small pieces of glass all over the floor. It is a lot clean up to do. Please keep us in prayers. Love and bless you all. Mom and dad”

this one follows it within two minutes.

“The minute I heard the crash sound. I praise the Lord for sparing my life. Life is too short. I could have dropped dead right there. There is time for everything. If the Lord is us, who can be against us. I took Po to the doctor with Kung yesterday from 10:30 tilll 2:30 ( 2 doctors) Straight no lunch.They expected too much. Kung told me to close the shop for good and said I am just too greedy to keep the flower shop. One day we have to work even though we are sick. They are already old, we have to spend time taking care of them. I rebute that curse in Jeuses name. He is so good to me. This is a miracle that nothing happened to me, I am still sound and safe. Praise God. Please get closer to the Lord. He is our Helper, Counselor, Provider, Creator and Deliverer. Just Let God and Let Go. Nothing really matters when something like this happens. He still hides me over His wings and protects me. Halleluah. Praise God”

My mom told me she shared the gospel with the lady, and shes going to church with her today. AMAZING. My mom is such a strong woman of f8th! SO THANKFUL for her.. though she’s at times crazy. but arent we all… maybe just a lil bit. some more than others.

I am in awe of the relentlessness, patience, sovereignty of Our Gd, the HS, and the redemptive work of JC!

This being said in 2006, after I went back to Cali from my STM in BJ… I was challenged my my teammates to “prepare” to come back… I signed up for Chinese 001 for a quarter, and my professor was visiting professor from BJ. We hit it off right away and we spent a lot of time hanging out… Taking her to Walmart, having dinners with her , etc. she was in Davis alone whole her family (husband & son) were in BJ.

Later, when they arrived in Davis I became a “part” of the family. My grad school year I went over to their house to eat at least once a week and hey came over a couple times too. I had brought them to chrch a couple times… But 老师 wasn’t interested but her hubs enjoyed going…

When I moved to 上海 I saw her and her family bc they moved back to 北京. So new years of 2009, I went to visit Beijing and saw her and her family and got to see their humble abode and had an awesome meal with them. I was so blessed to see them.

We’ve lost

We’ve lost touch since… But this morning I get this email from the mandarin Pstr at DCCC saying…

“Hi Christine,

How are you? Are you in China.
This morning I talked to Wei Ping and she said that you were her student and brought her to DCCC.
Wei Ping is teaching at Un. Ohio and she and her husband will come to DCCC on 12/11.
I will baptize them.

I am in awe. Angels surely are rejoicing in heaven, in shanghai, in Beijing, in Davis… And now also will be in ohio.

White Chocolate topped Gingerbread Cookies

3 cups flour
2 tsp. Ginger, Ground
1 tsp. Cinnamon, Ground
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. Nutmeg, Ground (I used fresh)
1/4 tap salt
3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) unsalted butter, at room temperature
3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup molasses
1 egg
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 tsp. Vanilla Extract
1 cup white chocolate chips

Mix flour, ginger, cinnamon, baking soda, nutmeg and salt in large bowl.
Beat butter and brown sugar in large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy.
Add molasses, egg and vanilla; beat well. Gradually beat in flour mixture on low speed until well mixed. Press dough into a thick flat disk. Wrap in plastic wrap. Refrigerate 4 hours or overnight.
Preheat oven to 350°F. Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Roll in granulated sugar. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets.
Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until edges of cookies just begin to brown. Immediately press about 5-6 white chocolate chips into center of each cookie. Remove to wire racks; cool completely. Store cookies in airtight container up to 5 days.

Contentment and Thanksgiving

As we celebrate Thanksgiving this year, it is good to be reminded of our need to be content.

If you belong to Christ, like the apostle Paul you can and should learn the secret of a contented life. When Paul wrote “godliness with contentment is great gain” he wasn’t just speaking philosophically (1 Tim. 6:6). He had learned the secret to contentment in every circumstance of life (Phil 4:11-2). While that secret eludes most people, it need not elude any true believer. For those who are willing to learn, here are six steps to a contented life from the life and teaching of Paul.

First, learn to give thanks in all things. Paul had learned to give thanks in every circumstance and he exhorted all believers to do the same. Thankfulness is first of all a matter of obedience (1 Thess. 5:18; Eph. 5:18), but it is also a characteristic of a Spirit-filled believer (Eph. 5:18-20).

Second, learn to rest in God’s providence. If we truly know God, we know that He is unfolding His agenda and purpose in our lives. He has sovereignly determined each part of His plan for us so that we’ll be benefited and He’ll be glorified (cf. Rom. 8:28). We should not be surprised or ungrateful when we experience trials because we know that God sees perfectly the end result (cf. 1 Pet. 4:12-13).

Third, learn to be satisfied with little. Paul had learned to make the choice to be satisfied with little, and he knew it was important for others to learn to make that same choice. In 1 Timothy 6:6 Paul exhorted a young pastor with these words: “Now godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content.” Paul understood that covetousness and contentment are mutually exclusive.

Fourth, learn to live above life’s circumstances. That’s how Paul lived. In 2 Cor. 12:9-10 he wrote, “Most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”

Paul didn’t take pleasure in the pain itself, but in the power of Christ manifested through him in times of infirmity, reproach, persecution, and distress. We also should learn to take pleasure in the power of Christ in times of distress.

Fifth, learn to rely on God’s power and provision. The apostle Paul wrote, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”; and Jesus said He will never leave us nor forsake us (Heb. 13:5). Like Paul, we can learn to rely on Christ’s promise. He faithfully infuses every believer with His own strength and sustains them in their time of need until they receive provision from His hand (Eph. 3:16).

Finally, become preoccupied with the well-being of others. Paul summarized this mindset in Philippians 2:3-4, where he wrote: “Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.”

A self-centered man is a discontented man. But the soul of the generous man, the man who lives for the interests and benefit of others, will find blessing upon blessing in his life (see Prov. 11:24-5; 19:17; Luke 6:38; 2 Cor. 9:6).

The Joys of Being a Queen…

In my Year 1 (Y1) Class everyday, we focus on phonics sounds,digraphs, blends, onsets & rhymes using chants and motions. It’s proven for English as an Additional Language (EAL) learners, it’s vital to use repetition and motions to learn language.

so every day my 6 year olds stand up get their pretend apples ready and start the chant… (that doesnt want to paste on…

when they get to the Qq letter they see this…

or some sort of card like such.

for the letter Qq, they chant /q/ /q/ /q/ueen… and pretend to put a crown on their head. Recently, my kids instead of just saying “/q/ /q/ /q/ueen…” they say now, /q/ /q/ /q/ueen CHRISTINE. (i did mention it one time… but was completely joking). but Hey it does have a ring to it.

So, it’s Eason’s 6th Birthday this past thursday… (what a cutie!)

and the cutie made his mummy make me this… and said “Miss Christine this is for you!”

Honestly, I saw it and wasnt sure how to respond… Eason’s mum who was standing near eme explains, “it’s a bee.” She continues to tell me the story of what i told you above of how they chant… and she explains further, “So Eason, said that he’s been learning in Science class, that Bee’s make honey. and there’s a Queen Bee that controls all the other honey bee’s. and that Miss Christine is a queen too and so she’s the Queen Bee!”

all this from a 6 year old. Pretty awesome word connection. soo you can call me queen bee. ^__^ or at least thats what Eason calls me now. ^_^
