The Joys of Being a Queen… November 5, 2011

Filed under: for fun,SMIC — chinabean @ 1:03 pm

In my Year 1 (Y1) Class everyday, we focus on phonics sounds,digraphs, blends, onsets & rhymes using chants and motions. It’s proven for English as an Additional Language (EAL) learners, it’s vital to use repetition and motions to learn language.

so every day my 6 year olds stand up get their pretend apples ready and start the chant… (that doesnt want to paste on…

when they get to the Qq letter they see this…

q is for queen

queen

or some sort of card like such.

for the letter Qq, they chant /q/ /q/ /q/ueen… and pretend to put a crown on their head. Recently, my kids instead of just saying “/q/ /q/ /q/ueen…” they say now, /q/ /q/ /q/ueen CHRISTINE. (i did mention it one time… but was completely joking). but Hey it does have a ring to it. 🙂

So, it’s Eason’s 6th Birthday this past thursday… (what a cutie!)

and the cutie made his mummy make me this… and said “Miss Christine this is for you!”

Honestly, I saw it and wasnt sure how to respond… Eason’s mum who was standing near eme explains, “it’s a bee.” She continues to tell me the story of what i told you above of how they chant… and she explains further, “So Eason, said that he’s been learning in Science class, that Bee’s make honey. and there’s a Queen Bee that controls all the other honey bee’s. and that Miss Christine is a queen too and so she’s the Queen Bee!”

all this from a 6 year old. Pretty awesome word connection. 🙂 soo you can call me queen bee. ^__^ or at least thats what Eason calls me now. ^_^

from the photo you cannot tell its handmade soap, olive oil shea butter and lavendar. 🙂

The Lrd will fight for you. August 29, 2010

Filed under: faith,life in SH,SMIC — chinabean @ 12:00 am

In short, I came back to Shanghai claiming the promise that Father would redeem SH. I had a plan to be proactive to have accountability/community and resolved that He is the ONLY one that would get me through. However, when i came back started orientation week it was still SUPER difficult.  I asked for unfailing strength or deliverance, father answered with a very specific confirmation.

I was offered resignation from my job @ SMIC, and I pryed and made the decision between Father and me, and I took it. 🙂 So now I am jobless and homeless… ^__^ My current plan is to stay in SH for another 6 months to study Chinese, serve at local club, part time job, amongst endless possibilities father will bring. 🙂 In terms of housing, people have been extremely gr8cious in helping and housing me ^__^

The story of HIS GLORY(intricate details and all) in this crazy journey is currently being written up… please stay tuned. 🙂

sorry f8thful readers that the difficulties through these months have inhibited me from writing and sharing with y’all. I, too, have been confused as to how to communicate what happened, but father has definitely made his way clear and Oh how he honors the heart the seeks him…  though times were dark, He truly brings forth light! The battle is real, and the Lrd, your God, will fight for you. If Gd is for us, who can be against us!! He has already won victory! ^___^

As I constantly must die to myself, he lives in me… JC in us is the HOPE of glory!

Kindess leads to repentance December 7, 2009

Filed under: SMIC — chinabean @ 9:49 am

Romans 2:1-10

You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge the other, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things. 2Now we know that G*d’s judgment against those who do such things is based on truth. 3So when you, a mere man, pass judgment on them and yet do the same things, do you think you will escape G*d’s judgment? 4Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, tolerance and patience, not realizing that G*d’s kindness leads you toward repentance?

But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of G*d’s wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed. 6G*d “will give to each person according to what he has done.”[a] 7To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life. 8But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger. 9There will be trouble and distress for every human being who does evil: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile; 10but glory, honor and peace for everyone who does good: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. 11For G*d does not show favoritism.

Lessons from the Classroom:

Many have told me that there is a “gift” I have that Abba gave me in which i can dig deep and know people’s hearts more deeply than most. I have heard this before and though I am not sure what this gift is or called, I am humbled and thankful that He has used it for me to really get to know people and to know how i can intercede on their behalf.

My accountability group for P.Co has been having “assignments” for each week we met. my assignment last week was that I need to and want to rap for my students on a daily basis. The past two weeks, as i have been sick, i have woken up at 5AM before my alarm because i cannot breathe. so instead of being miserable and trying to fall back asleep, I have been using the time to do my assignment.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yesterday at the end of the day, the Ld taught me this valuable lesson about my gifts as well as my witness as a teacher to my kids.
I have a student named Cara, that is strong, independent, athletic, smart, helpful, very kind. She won the integrity award this past month for the 2nd grade. About a month ago, she was involved in some girl drama, and was a witness to what one girl had done. She started crying when i asked her what how the “bully girl” hurt her. I realized that it seemed like she never really cries. And surely, enough when i had Parent Teacher Conferences her mom said that she doesn’t cry. barely at ALL at home as well.
Which brings us to today, after library class while lining up, one girl Jessica screams, “Ow, Cara pinched me.” I teacher glare at cara and ask her if she did. She nodds yes.  I tell her i will talk to her when we get back to the classroom. being the wonderful teacher that i am, i forget for about half the period that i have to talk to her… but i end up remembering. i call cara over and asked her what happened. I put my arm around her so shes close enough where no one else can hear us. She tells me, “jessica asked if she could go in front of my in line, and i let her. but then i didnt want her to so i pinched her.” I said, “was it an accident?” she said, “no.”
All of a sudden she begins to whimper a little and tries to hold in her tears. I ask her, “whats wrong?” She stands still and starts crying… I prod and begin my investigative questions. “why are you crying?” “Did jessica do something to you too?” (thinking that she felt sad because it was unfair that it may have been others fault too). She shakes her head. She is bawling by this time and trying to pull away from me, but i have her in my arm. I ask her, “then why are you crying? You are not in trouble. I just want to know why you’re feeling sad.”
She then finally says, “Miss Chan, I’m sad… because I changed my mind and i didn’t know what else to do. I hurt Jessica, but I didn’t want to.  Sometimes I do what I don’t want to do.”  I held her closer to me and she began to cry into my shoulder. I told her, “Since you did something wrong, it’s good to cry and be sorry.” She looked at me with the cutest puppy dog eyes and started to calm down. I told her she should go apologize to Jessica again and maybe tell her that you will try not to do it next time. She nodded politely and went to Jessica. When she finished apologizing, Cara came back over to me, as all the other students have settled down and started SSR (silent sustained reading), she stood really close to me and began to cry again.
I held her close and she just sobbed in my arms. and when she was done… the breathing calmed down. I just hugged her for another moment and said “It’s okay, Cara. Jes*s loves you.” She smiled, packed up her bags and we lined up to go home for the day.
she doesn’t know Jes*s right now… but she one day she will.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

So the lesson I learned is that, His kindness leads us to repentance. and it’s pretty incredible because as i walked back from the gate to my classroom after all the parents picked up their kids, i was rapping and realized that the kindess that i exhibit (that is FROM the Ld) was displayed in a way that Cara felt FREE to repent. I think too often, our Father is like this. His KINDNESS TRULY does draw us to repentance and freedom. I forget how hard it is for us to know TRUE forgiveness.. unless we repent. and truly in my life.. im learning that the more i KNOW Abba, the MORE i KNOW HIS KINDNESS.. which leads me to repentance and draws me into the FREEDOM that comes from HIS LOVE.

Disgusting Turkey

Written by Eric Park

November 2009

SMIC ET 2D

Thanksgiving is coming up.

I am bad choice for the dinner table. My name is Alien Turkey. I really look like an alien. When people see me, they said “Sick!” Or “is that really a turkey?” I have H1N1.  If you eat me, you will also have H1N1.

Last year, I live in a trash bin.

So, I am super putrid. I also taste like trash.

I look like monster, too because I don’t have any skin. Yesterday, my eyeballs popped out!  So, I am very disgusting.  Even farmer Joe doesn’t want to look at me! If you eat me, you will turn into a disgusting person, or you might die. In my opinion, you shouldn’t choose me.

But my partner Matthew is good choice. He is so healthy. And he is also strong. He van even beat a lion! But don’t say “Impossible!” He can even kill the lion! But he’s not rambunctious around people. In my opinion, if you cooked him, he will smell very good. I think he will be tasty too. Do not choose me.

I am a Bad Turkey

SMIC ET2D

Thanksgiving is coming up. You don’t want me to be on the dinner table. Here are some reasons not to choose me for your dinner table. Here are some reasons not to choose for the diner table. My flesh and meat won’t fill your tummy. I am skinny. I also live in a garbage can. I have 10,000,00 germs on me. I don’t have tender meat. My meat is very. Plus, I was diagnosed with swine flu! I am also sticky and putrid. If you cook me, my eye balls will pop out and hit you. so do not choose me.

Choose my partner, Annie, the turkey. She has much more flesh than me. She also has more meat than me. She will fill your tummy. Annie the turkey is much more clean than I am. Annie does not even have one germ on her. annie the turkey has very very tender meat. She will be so yummy. Annie the turkey is the best turkey in the world. Annie the turkey had never been sick before.

If you eat me you will get swine flu. You might even get a stomachache and start throwing up. If you eat me, your meat is going to be dry like mine. You would also get very sick. If you get very sick, it’s not my fault because I warned you, not to choose me!

—————————————————————————————————-

Hi, I’m Cheeky Le Turkey. Thanksgiving is coming and i think it is not wise to choose me for your dinner table. Here are some reasons to support my opinion. I am so skinny. I don’t have much flesh to fill your tummy. i am also very old. my tough meat won’t taste good on your dinner plate. my flesh might even give you indigestion! added to that, i have swine flu and Eczema. I am also stinky because I have never showered in my entire life.
Let me give you a suggestion, choose my partner, Michael Fin Turkey. Michael Fin Turkey is strong, energetic, and enthusiastic. He can provide you with a satisfying meal of tender meat because he is young and has more flesh. oh, and not to forget, he has just passed a recent medical check up.
People say “You are what you eat.”  well, if you eat me, you might get swine flu, eczema, skinny and an oder body. think twice before you act. and dont choose me or else you will regret it.

The Thanksgiving Turkey

Written by: Matthew Tang

November, 2009

Hi! I’m Stinky the turkey. I know Thanksgiving is coming and you are going to choose the Thanksgiving turkey. You really don’t want me to be the Thanksgiving turkey. I could give you 4 reasons you shouldn’t choose me.

One reason is that I am from the world of garbage. If you eat me, you will turn into a piece of garbage. Another reason is that if you try to catch me, my eyeballs will pop out and hit you. The third reason is that if you cook me, I will pee in your oven and your oven will explode. When it explodes, I will go up into the air and land on your head. Then I will get so scared that I will pooh on your head. Then it will slide down your face.

I will stuff pooh in your mouth if you try to catch me. The last reason is that I have H1N1. If you eat me, you will also get H1N1.

You should choose my partner, Champion the turkey. He takes bath everyday. He has never been sick in his whole life. He is healthy. If you eat him, you will become very strong.

I hope you know by now whom you should choose for the dinner table. If you choose me, you choose to die.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!
